An immersive learning experience with the West's greatest theologian.
What if you bumped into Karl Barth at a cocktail party? You were catching up with friends when you looked and there he was. This towering legend in Theology was right there at the hors d'oeuvres table. You draw close and listen to the conversation, and your utter fascination grows as he talks with others. You are captivated with his ideas and you linger as he and friends pull to the side to talk about his thinking and conclusions.
That’s the idea behind this project. Built around just five carefully chosen sections (out of 73!) of Church Dogmatics-- his 6-Million word, 12-volumn magnum opus--you take a seat in lively, conversational podcast which are never longer than 20-minutes each. Nibble on cheese and crackers as you will taste and sample marvels of each section in an upbeat and creative way. Explore reasoning, history, and the eternal truths of Scripture as only Barth can teach. Also, a graphically compelling slide deck accompanies each chapter that is being considered and a learning guide is offered to highlight key terms and ideas being discussed.

Together, these sections examine the theological relationship between creation and reconciliation, asserting that the world was brought into existence specifically for the sake of God’s covenant in Jesus Christ. Rather than viewing the gospel as a secondary addition to nature, the Barth argues that Christ is the eternal foundation and goal of all reality, making his historical life the definitive "real time" by which all other history is understood. The author emphasizes that true knowledge of God is impossible through human reason or natural theology alone, as man's innate resistance to grace can only be overcome by the Holy Spirit's revelation. Central to this vision is the royal man, Jesus, who uniquely embodies both the electing God and the elected human, fulfilling the covenant through his humiliation and exaltation. Furthermore, the Bible is presented not as a mere historical record but as a divinely commissioned saga and witness that becomes the living Word of God through the freedom of grace. Ultimately, the material posits that all of creation—from the beginning of time to the acts of the apostles—must be interpreted through the christological lens of the atonement.
